Security skills for the field—and everyday life. Built on practical experience, informed judgment, and respect for the people and communities we serve.
WHERE WE COME FROM
HEATSS (spoken “heat-ess-ess”)—High-Risk & Hostile Environments Awareness, Training & Support Solutions—brings together experienced field professionals and specialist collaborators shaped by years of work alongside journalists, documentary crews, humanitarian teams, and NGOs in challenging operational settings.
The company's foundation reflects its founder's field journey, which began at an early age supporting visiting journalists and organizations as a fixer and translator, then expanded into driving, local coordination, safety advice, and operational leadership. Today, that experience informs a collaborative approach with skilled instructors, advisors, and local field specialists: effective preparation must reflect what actually happens on the ground.
Our work brings together training, security and risk advisory, and practical field support—without assuming that every person, mission, or environment faces the same challenges.
WHAT GUIDES US
Four principles shape how HEATSS prepares and supports clients.
Practical lessons drawn from real assignments, local conditions, and operational challenges—not theory alone.
Language, culture, relationships, and community context are essential to informed decisions.
Clear, realistic training and guidance that people can apply under pressure and adapt as conditions change.
Thoughtful planning, defined scope, and realistic expectations—with no promise that risk can be eliminated.

EXPERIENCE & CONNECTIONS
Our founder brings firsthand field and operational experience across Africa, Latin America, and Europe. HEATSS builds on that foundation through a wider network of experienced instructors, safety advisors, fixers, translators, drivers, and other field professionals, including established contacts in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Team composition and service availability are confirmed for each assignment.
Our collaborative model values trusted local expertise alongside specialist training and advisory experience, because effective field support combines professional preparation with an understanding of place.

EXPLORE TRAINING ↗EXPLORE ADVISORY ↗EXPLORE FIELD SUPPORT ↗ONE PHILOSOPHY. DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTS.
